The Route Starts Here: Sport Routes launches its permanent observatory
Starting this month, Sport Routes is launching “The Route Starts Here!”, a permanent sport tourism observatory that, on a monthly basis, explores a specific theme within the ecosystem we represent. Not generic content, but independent analysis built for the people who work every day at the intersection of territory, sport, and tourism: local administrators, operators, businesses, associations.
The first issue is dedicated to a topic that touches over 90% of Italian territory: cycling tourism as a lever for rural revitalization.
What the report covers
Italy’s rural areas generate roughly 50% of national value added, yet face depopulation and an aging population. Cycling tourism fits into this picture as a concrete opportunity: direct economic injection into local businesses, a longer and steadier tourist season, a low environmental footprint, and renewed visibility for villages and local traditions.
